Aladin Air Z O2 Computer
The Air Z O2 is an adaptive computer that can be used in conjunction with conventional open circuit scuba or a semi-closed rebreather (SCR). When it is used with an SCR in conjunction with the Oxy 2 oxygen sensor, the Air Z O2 provides the SCR diver with the data required in real time to monitor on-line, the actual gas composition being breathed. This is important as actual O2 usage depends on the diver’s metabolism. High workloads require a higher supply of O2 than light workloads. So, the actual gas mixture in the rebreather depends on the premixed gas, selected flow and the diver’s O2 consumption (workload). Without a reliable measuring device, the diver has to rely on an estimated gas mix. Now, he knows the actual O2 fraction in the gas mix that he is breathing and the exact partial pressure of O2. With reliable O2 measurement and appropriate warnings, it’s possible to optimize SCR gas flow to improv
e the performance and subsequent bottom time.
A complete system consists of the Air Z O2 wrist unit plus a transmitter and the Oxy 2 sensor.
The Oxy 2 sensor is designed for exclusive use with semi-closed rebreathers such as the Dräger Dolphin. It has dual sensors, independently calibrated, which insert into the gas flow of the rebreather inhalation hose. When paired with the Air Z O2, the system transmit actual O2 content of the inhaled gas to the wrist unit.
For sale only to customers of our retail store. Call or e-mail for details.

Suunto Cobra
The Cobra is an advanced air integrated dive computer which combines multiple features, easy use and stylish design. In addition to measuring useful information such as depth, time and temperature the Cobra calculates the divers decompression need and aids the diver in completing the dive safely. Air integration means that the Cobra also measures the tank pressure and calculates for how many minutes the diver has gas left with the current air consumption.
• Air integration
• Air, EANx, Gauge modes
• PC interface
• Suunto RGBM Model
The Suunto RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubble Model) used in the Cobra is an advanced algorithm for tracking both dissolved and free gas in the blood and in the tissues of divers. The advantage of the Suunto RGBM is that it can address a number of diving circumstances outside the range of just dissolved gas models. For example, monitoring continuous multi-day diving, computing closely spaced repetitive diving and taking into account adverse dives deeper than the previous dive. In addition to displaying the decompression ceiling the Cobra also displays the decompression floor, the deepest point at which the divers decompression stop time will not increase. Suunto is the only manufacturer to display these two parameters determining the decompression stop range.
Cobra’s features include: complete decompression stop data, separate 3-step altitude and personal adjustments for more tailored settings, dive simulator and dive planner, customer selectable alarms for maximum depth and dive time, visual and audible alarms, automatic safety stop countdown, an electro-luminescent backlight which lights up automatically when important alarms are given, and a calendar clock.
The extensive memory functions include lifetime history memory and a 36 hour logbook with dive profile memory. The default 20 second sampling rate can be set to 10, 30 or 60 seconds. When set to the 60 second sampling rate, the diver can increase the logbook memory up to 100 hours. The sampling rate is set by using the optional PC interface unit and Suunto Dive Manager software. The software upgrades are available free of charge at www.suunto.fi. During the dive, bookmarks can be entered into the computer’s logbook for further reference. The stored dive information, including profiles, can be read directly from the Cobra display or downloaded to a PC.
Air integration includes features such as temperature compensated tank pressure and estimated remaining air time with low cylinder pressure warning. The Cobra is 300 bar (5000 psi) compatible. As a nitrox computer the Cobra can be programmed for nitrox mixtures of 21% to 50% oxygen in 1% increments. The oxygen partial pressure can be adjusted from 1.2 to 1.6 bar in 0.1 unit increments.
Available with matching compass attached to end.

Dive Computer Tutorial
Aqua Safaris staff along with most dive instructors and dive certifying agencies believe that all divers should dive with computers. The primary reason is for reduced error and improved safety. Even among well-trained and experienced divers such as those in instructor training classes, error rates of 10% or more in the use of Dive Tables are typical, and that assumes accurate input data. Proper use of tables requires accurate measurement of dive depth, dive duration and surface interval, and errors, inaccuracies and memory lapses are all too common on all of these measurements. A good dive computer automatically takes care of all of these details and makes the key measurements to better accuracy. It will start accurately timing your dive automatically when you go below surface. It will measure depth more accurately (±1 ft). It will accurately measure your actual surface interval and ascent rate and provide real-time alarms if you approach safe limits of either dive duration or ascent rate. Unlike tables, it will also give you credit for time spent at shallower depths than your maximum since its calculations are based on physiological gas absorption and desorption models rather than crude tables. Commonly, a computer-based dive may allow more than twice the dive time of a table-based dive while maintaining excellent safety margins against decompression problems. Plus a dive computer can integrate the functions of dive watch, depth gauge and (if desired) tank pressure gauge and thermometer into one convenient display.
More expensive dive computers provide both more features and functionality. Consider what features you need for your current and future diving needs and be sure to buy a computer that includes the features you need and want. If you dive now or expect to dive soon with Nitrox, you will need a computer that can adjust its calculations to the particular mix you are diving. The Suunto computers listed here plus the DiveRite and Aladin computers can be used with Nitrox. The DiveRite computer is a sophisticated technical diving computer capable of accommodating dive profiles incorporating dive mixture changes mid-dive (so you can decompress from a deep dive on pure oxygen or a highly enriched Nitrox, for example) and can work with TriMix as well as Nitrox. If you plan to do a lot of deep decompression diving, you will want such a computer.
Even if you plan to do only no-decompression diving, you might want to seriously consider an “air-integrated” dive computer. These computers (such as the Sherwood Wisdom and the Suunto Cobra) also monitor your tank air pressure and therefore air consumption rate. For example, if you are chasing a big fish at sixty feet and kicking hard, they can warn you that you have only five minutes left at the current rate. You can then decide whether you might not rather give up the chase and resume a more leisurely and/or shallower dive that might give you another half-hour of bottom time.
