As a diver, we see new, interesting and often unidentifiable things every time we enter the water. This is the reason so many of us dive. The underwater world is different and exciting. Is there a way to make diving even more enjoyable? Yes! You can get more enjoyment out of your dives by learning more about these beautiful creatures. Take the time to learn about our incredible marine environment.

This marine environments class will help you identify our local plants and animals. Don’t worry, it won’t be like your high school biology class. You’ll be in the classroom and diving! You will learn about the ecology of kelp forest, sandy bottom habitats, and nocturnal marine life. You’ll understand why Fish and Game laws exist and what you can do as a diver to help preserve and minimize your impact on this fragile environment. You understand why it is so important to educate other divers too!

You’ll be making four dives under the guidance of a NAUI instructor. You’ll have guides to help you identify those “unknown” critters.

No longer will you reach the surface and wonder what it was you saw. Was it an animal or a plant? Was it dangerous or endangered? Become a marine environmentalist the easy way and have fun doing it!
