Honduras
offers amazing beauty in many protected areas
with 20 national parks, 10 wildlife refuges and
10 biological reserves. Honduras is home to more
than 600 species of birds and rare animals, such
as jaguars, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys and
the elusive Caribbean manatee. The Bay Islands
of Honduras are known for exquisite white sand
beaches and clear turquoise waters. There are
several gorgeous islands in the Bay Islands chain,
including the islands of Roatan, Guanaja and Utila.
Honduras shares with its northern neighbor Belize
the second largest barrier reef on the planet.
The underwater coral formations and abundant marine
life make the Bay Islands especially attractive
to snorkelers and divers. A highlight in Honduras
is Copan, perhaps the most enchanting of all Mayan
archaeological sites.
Guanaja Island Resorts—Bayman Bay Club
A “Robinson Crusoe” retreat, Bayman
Bays’ 18 ocean view rooms are set high in
the mountain side secluded among mango,
papaya and breadfruit trees. The view from
this resort is extraordinary, overlooking
one of the finest beaches in the Bay Islands.
A three level clubhouse features a dining
room, bar, gift shop, library and sunset
veranda. Bayman Bay offers great snorkeling
and diving just offshore. Activities at
Bayman Bay include ocean kayaking, unlimited
shore diving and excursions to a nearby
