How to increase your diving pleasure
For those of you who have not tried it, you
should give some serious consideration to SCUBA
diving from a liveaboard. Most liveaboards can
be considered mobile platforms from which to
do some of the world’s best diving. Most
of the established operations have excellent
amenities and highly skilled divemasters and
instructors that truly enhance your diving experience.
For the truly dive crazy, being on a liveaboard
is heaven. On most boats you can do as many
dive a day as your computer and stamina will
allow.
There are a large variety of liveaboards: from
inexpensive 2-day Channel Island trips to premier
warm water operations like the Mike Ball liveaboards
based in Townsville, Australia, There are boats
all over the world that provide superb diving
sometimes up to 100–200 miles offshore and afford
uncrowded dive sites, Nitrox and an on-board
photopro. Some of our staff have extensive experience
with these operations and would be happy to
share it with you.
There are also liveaboards that specialize
in cold water diving. The Nautilus VII, which
operates out of Vancouver, BC, is such a boat.
They take you to seldom-visited sites, allowing you
to see unique invertebrate life and offer some
exciting coldwater drift diving. They also offer
onboard Nitrox.
In summary, for the uninitiated, liveaboard
diving is an experience well worth having if
you’ve never tried it before. For those
that have had this experience, you probably
need little encouragement to try more.
