Tahiti
The
islands of French Polynesia are considered by
many to be the most beautiful on earth. Sheer
cliffs rise from turquoise lagoons fringed by
perfect white sand beaches with a myriad of
tropical fish just below the surface. The islands
have fringing reefs offshore that provide for
calm, clear pools of water in every shade of
blue one could imagine. Lush island valleys
open up to spectacular bays making these islands
a truly magical destination. Resort islands
in French Polynesia include Moorea, Bora Bora,
Huahine, and the Tuamotu Archipelago with the
islands of Rangiroa and Manihi. Another group
of islands are the Marquesas which provide a
rare glimpse into Polynesia as it was a thousand
years ago.
Moorea
Moorea is the gem of the Tahiti Islands and
fulfills everyone's dream of a south sea paradise.
Around every corner one finds an enchanting
view of tropical cliffs falling into the cobalt
sea. Moorea's beaches and lagoons are stunningly
beautiful. Cascading waterfalls with mountain
top views of the bays provide an enchanting
setting. Take a bicycle ride to Cooks Bay or
circle the island by motorized outrigger canoe.
Paddle a canoe to uninhabited islands or visit
the seldom seen interior on a land rover expedition.
The snorkeling is phenomenal in all of Polynesia
and Moorea is no exception. The SCUBA diving
is excellent as well, and divers should not
miss the shark feed, a truly adrenal event.
