Grand Turk
The Turks & Caicos Islands are located approximately 575 miles southeast of Miami (about 1.5 hours flying time from Miami to Providenciales, then 1/2 hour to Grand Turk) with the Bahamas 30 miles to the northwest and the Dominican Republic 100 miles to the southeast. The country consists of two island groups separated by a 22 mile passage. To the west are the Caicos Islands: West Caicos, Providenciales, North, Middle, East and South Caicos. To the east are the Turks Islands: Grand Turk and Salt Cay. The total land area is 166 square miles. The official language is English, water temperatures range from 75–86° F year-round and the nearest recompression chamber is located on Providenciales.

M/V Wind Dancer departs every Saturday from Grand Turk. In 1987 Peter Hughes decided on Grand Turk as the ideal destination to operate. Why? Because Grand Turk, Salt Cay and South Caicos offered some of the best diving opportunities available.

Guests will discover pristine diving areas in shallow water and the world’s best wall diving on dramatic coral cliffs that drop from 30 feet to over 7,000 feet just 300 yards off the western shore of Grand Turk. The deep trenches around this island group attract large pelagics such as reef and nurse sharks, manta and eagle rays, dolphins and humpback whales (during their winter migration). Experience the excitement of Grand Turk, South Caicos and Salt Cay, still today undoubtedly one of the Atlantic and Caribbean region’s best kept diving secrets enjoyed by only a few privileged divers over the past decade as progress has galloped through the Caribbean leaving Grand Turk quietly, positively and beautifully behind.

Saturday: Arrive Grand Turk airport on Saturday. Transfers will be provided to the M/V
Wind Dancer at the South Dock. Early arrivals (prior to 4:00 pm) will be met at the airport and transferred to M/V Wind Dancer, but guests will not be permitted to access the interior of the vessel until 4:00 pm. Each guest will check-in with the hostess and is then escorted to their stateroom. Dinner is provided onboard at approx. 6:30 pm. An orientation slide show is presented after dinner. Guests may retire at their leisure after the orientation.

Sunday to Thursday: M/V Wind Dancer will usually depart for the first dive early Sunday morning. Most guests will do up to five dives per day between our first morning dive and when the dive deck closes after the night dive. A dive bell is rung to signal the start of a dive briefing. The vessel will usually move two to three times a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are served every day. Slide presentations are scheduled in the evenings throughout the week. The areas for diving include Grand Turk, Salt Cay, Long Cay, and South Caicos.

Friday: Two early morning dives are scheduled before returning to port in the afternoon (usually between noon and 2:00 pm). Guests have the opportunity to choose whether to stay on board in the afternoon or schedule a land tour before dinner. An informal dinner is prepared on board at approx. 6:00 pm or guests may elect to visit one of Grand Turk’s great local restaurants at their own expense.

Saturday: Continental breakfast is available at 6:30 am. Disembarkation is at 8:00 am for all guests. Transfers to the airport are provided. Guests who are scheduled on afternoon flights may choose to tour the island before returning to the airport. Guests are responsible for departure tax payment at the airport.
